Import custom field lists into QuickBooks Online

Overview

In QuickBooks Online (Plus and Advanced), custom fields are data fields or data extensions that can be attached to lists such as Customers (Vendor and Items we expect to be added by Intuit soon). These can be used to track non-standard data, such as customer classifications or special groupings. Custom field values for Customers records can be imported in batch from text or Excel files using Zed Axis.

Follow these steps to import Custom Field lists

  1. Open Zed Axis and connect to the QuickBooks Online company file
  2. Click the Import tab and browse to the file that contains the list of names and custom fields values you want to import
  3. Select the option to create a new mapping and the data type as Custom Fields and map the columns in your import file to the corresponding fields in QuickBooks Online
  4. Click the Import button and your Custom field data will be imported in batch for Customers and Vendors
