Error - Invalid Reference id : Categories cannot be used in transactions

Occurs: When importing a transaction such as a invoice or sales receipt into QuickBooks Online, the import fails and the error message "Invalid Reference id : Categories cannot be used in transactions" is displayed.

Cause: The item (product or service) that you have using on the transaction you are importing is set up as a Category (ie like Paints) in QuickBooks Online, which is not permitted.

Resolution:  Instead use the Full item name that is part of that ie like Paints:White-gloss.
