Import build assemblies into QuickBooks

Overview of importing build assemblies.

In QuickBooks desktop a build assembly is a transaction that combines component items together to make an assembly item, for example an interior door kit that is shown in the example below.  Using Zed Axis you can import build assemblies from text and Excel files directly into QuickBooks Desktop.

Steps to import build assemblies

Please follow these steps:
  1. Open your QuickBooks company file and connect Zed Axis.
  2. Select the import tab and browse to the file that contains the build assembly data
  3. Create a new map between the columns in your import file and the QuickBooks fields
  4. Click the import button and your build assemblies will be directly imported into QuickBooks.

Feedback

I downloaded the Zed Axis 12.1 and am interested in purchasing it. I cannot get the mapping to allow more than one Inventory Line Item on my mapping. My assemblies will have multiple line items per assembly. How can I get multiple inventory Line Items per mapping?

Hi Matt, the components are set on the Item Inventory Assembly if you need to change what components are on the assembly then you need to modify the Item Inventory Assembly not the Build Assembly.

Does this feature work with the QB Enterprise feature 'Automatically Build Sub Assemblies' ? This is an option when you manually create a build assembly. Please let me know. Thx!
