How to import Group Items into QuickBooks

Overview of importing group items

In QuickBooks Desktop a group item is used track groups of items that you buy and sell in a group. Using Zed Axis you can import Group inventory items from text files or from Excel spreadsheets directly into QuickBooks Desktop.

Follow these steps to import group items

Download and install the Zed Axis software on your computer, then follow these steps:

Open your QuickBooks company file as Administrator and open Zed Axis
Select your text file or spreadsheet which contains the group inventory items that you want to import.
Set up the a Mapping of the columns in your group inventory items import file to the corresponding fields in QuickBooks
Click Import and your group inventory items will be directly added to your QuickBooks company file.

QuickBooks field	Type	Description
Name	Str 31	Name of the Group Item
Is Active	Bool	Whether the item is Active (true or false)
Item Desc	Str 4095	The description of the group item
Unit of Measure	Str 31	The unit of measure for the group item
Is Print Items	Bool	The list of the groups individual items will appear on printed forms (true or false)
Item Line Name	Str	The full name of the individual item that makes up the group
Item Quantity	Quan	How many or individual items make up the group
Line Unit of Measure	Str 31	The unit of measure used for the individual item
